Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) is a framework designed to ensure children (0-5) are provided with opportunities for growth and development in 7 areas of learning including:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts & Design
All of our staff are trained to Early Years Educator (Level 3) or above and utilise the EYFS to ensure children are kept safe, happy and engaged in their own learning.
The Playroom Policies
Our setting policies help to ensure that we follow Ofsted and the Department for Education's best practice guidelines and statutory law to ensure the well-being and flourishing of every child.
If you are a new parent then you can access all of our setting policies using the following password protected link:
Policies are also available, upon request, in large print, text-to-speech and all languages.
The Playroom is based in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. We often take groups of children to the beaches, forests and parks to explore our wonderful local environment.
We find that children benefit greatly from being in the great outdoors for a variety of reasons, including their physical health, well-being and exciting opportunities for shared discovery.
Secure Online Learning Journal
We use a secure online system to record snapshots of your child learning through play. Parents can engage with their child's learning journey by viewing observations of their children during their formative years.
- View and comment on your children's observations using a highly secure online service provided by an industry leader
- Share formative moments from home with the child's Key Person
- Track their child's learning and development in accordance with the Development Matters framework
